Sushila Devi of Mirzapur started jewelery business with the help of Yogi government schemes, rural livelihood mission and training. Her monthly income is Rs 15,000 and she is providing employment to other women. Sushila has now become an example of a self-reliant woman of the village.

Lucknow. Till a few years ago, the life of 28-year-old Sushila Devi of Piprava village of Mirzapur district was surrounded by domestic responsibilities and financial difficulties. Born in a farmer family, Sushila definitely studied till intermediate, but was not able to find a way to move ahead. With the limited income from her husband’s private job, it was becoming difficult to meet household expenses, children’s education and future needs. During this time, information about schemes to make women self-reliant under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached her village, which gave Sushila an opportunity to change her life.

The journey of self-reliance started with jewelery training

When the topic of training in jewelery making came up in a meeting, Sushila started hesitantly. Responsibilities were more, resources were less, but the desire to do something new was always there. She learned to make custom jewelery and started a small business by taking a loan of Rs 15,000 from a self-help group. Gradually the jewelery made by his hands started becoming popular in the nearby markets. The team of Rural Livelihood Mission also solved the problem of market linking by connecting them with buyers.

With the support of women empowerment policies and missions of the Yogi government, Sushila’s monthly income increased to Rs 15,000. Now she is equally helping her husband in running the household and sending her children to a good school. He has also provided employment to many other women of the village, due to which the economic condition of their households has also improved. Within a few months, Sushila’s confidence increased and she became an inspiration for other women of the village.
