New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Friday gaive its nod in princiole for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Oman. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet met today and gave the green signal.
The bilateral trade agreement betweeen India and Oman is expected to deepen economic ties and open new avenues for trade and investment between the two nations. PM Modi is scheduled to embark on a four-day visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15.
PM Modi’s visit to Oman will be an opportunity for both the nations to review the bilateral partnership, including in the areas of trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
“At the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, Prime Minister will visit the Sultanate of Oman from 17 – 18 December 2025. This will be the second visit of Prime Minister Modi to Oman. India and Oman share an all-encompassing Strategic Partnership underpinned by centuries-old bonds of friendship, trade linkages and strong people-to-people ties. The visit will mark 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and follows the State visit of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman to India in December 2023,” the PMO stated in its release.
