Wrestler Vinesh Phogat reverses retirement, sets sights on LA 2028 Olympics

New Delhi: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has reversed her retirement and has now set her sights on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Phogat released a statement on X, confirming that she has come out of retirement from professional wrestling.

The 31-year-old wrestler stepped away from the sport after a massive controversy at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she was denied a medal despite reaching the final. She was disqualified on the morning of her gold-medal match against American Sarah Hildebrandt. Phogat weighed in at approximately 50.1 kg, which was 100 grams overweight from the 50 kg category limit.
