Bollywood’s real He-Man Dharmendra is no more in this world. He died on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89, battling age-related complications. On November 27, Dharam ji’s first wife Prakash Kaur and sons Sunny and Bobby Deol had organized a prayer meet for him in Mumbai. Dharmendra’s second wife Hema Malini had organized a Geeta recital for him at her home that day. Now Hema along with Dharam ji and her daughters Isha and Ahana Deol organized a prayer meet in New Delhi. During this prayer meet held at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi on 11 December, Hema cried while talking about Dharmendra.
Hema Malini became emotional at Dharmendra’s prayer meet
Hema Malini became emotional while addressing the guests attending Dharmendra’s prayer meet. She said, “I am feeling very emotional while welcoming you all to this prayer meeting today. I had never thought that such an opportunity would ever come in my life when I would have to host this prayer meet. Especially for my Dharam ji. The whole world is mourning his departure. But this is a big shock for me. The breaking of a company that has stood the test of time.” Hema Malini praised Dharmendra’s personality during the prayer meet and said, “Dharam ji never considered himself different from others. He remained down to earth all his life. Be it rich or poor, known or unknown, he loved everyone. He respected and honored everyone. He was that kind of person.”
Dharmendra-Hema Malini were together for 57 years
Hema Malini further talked about her association with Dharam ji in her speech. She said, “He and I were together for 57 years. When I came into the film industry, I got the opportunity to work with him mostly. We worked together in 45 films, out of which 25 were superhits. The industry loved us as a successful screen couple and the audience showered a lot of love on us.” During this, Hema Malini talked about Dharmendra’s film career and told that he had worked in more than 300 films. She says, “Be it romantic or action, he always did wonders. But his true love was comedy. The camera was his life. He loved acting and whatever role he got, he would give it his all.”
Dharmendra’s wish which remained unfulfilled
According to Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s poetic side came to the fore with time. She says, “He started writing poetry. He had a special gift that he had words ready for every situation and every occasion. I told him that he should write a book, his fans would like it. So he was very serious about it and was planning everything. That work remained incomplete.”
Many politicians attended Dharmendra’s prayer meet
While Hema Malini was accompanied by her two daughters Isha and Ahana Deol in the prayer meet held in Delhi, Isha’s ex-husband Bharat Takhtani and Ahana’s husband Vaibhav Vohra were also present there. Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, MP Anurag Thakur and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and many other politicians had reached this prayer meet to pay tribute to Dharmendra.
