A 3-match test series is being played between New Zealand and West Indies. In the second match of the series, both the teams faced each other at the Basin Reserve Stadium in Wellington. In this match, a strong game was seen from New Zealand and they defeated the visiting team in just 3 days. The Kiwi team won this match by a huge margin of 9 wickets, the biggest reason for which was their strong bowling. He did not allow West Indies to reach a big score in both the innings and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
New Zealand’s batting was a flop
In this match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be correct. West Indies team could score only 205 runs in its first innings. During this, Shay Hope scored the maximum 47 runs. Whereas, John Campbell contributed 44 runs. Brandon King also scored 33 runs and Roston Chase scored 29 runs. But none of the other batsmen could touch the 20-run mark. On the other hand, Blair Tickner took maximum 4 wickets for New Zealand. Michael Rai also had 3 successes in his name. Whereas, Jacob Duffy and Glenn Phillips got 1-1 wicket.
New Zealand took the lead in the first innings
In response, New Zealand also did not see any special batsman, but it was successful in taking the lead of 73 runs. He declared his first innings after scoring 278 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. In which Michelle Hay’s 61 runs and Devon Conway’s 60 runs had the biggest contribution. Kane Williamson also scored 37 runs. At the same time, in the second innings, Jacob Duffy wreaked havoc on the West Indies team, due to which the visiting team was all out for just 128 runs. Jacob Duffy spent 38 runs in 17.2 overs and took 5 wickets and sealed the victory for New Zealand. Apart from him, Michael Rai also achieved 3 successes in this innings. Due to which New Zealand got the target of 56 runs to win, which it achieved at the loss of 1 wicket in 10 overs.
