Garuda Purana: Garuda Purana has been included in 18 Mahapuranas. This is considered an important religious text. This Purana is based on the dialogue between Lord Vishnu, the creator of the world, and the bird king Garuda. Garuda Purana tells about life, death, sin, virtue, journey of the soul and salvation. It is told in Garuda Purana that a person should have some special things at the time of death.

Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the world, has told the bird king Garuda that if a person who is about to sacrifice his life has four sacred things, then his soul completes the journey easily, peacefully and without interruptions. Let us know what are these four things?

basil

Tulsi is considered a symbol of purity. Tulsi is worshiped considering her as mother. Mother Lakshmi resides in the Tulsi plant. It is said that a person whose death is near should be made to lie down near a Tulsi plant. Not only this, basil leaves or manjari should be put in the mouth of the deceased. According to beliefs, a person who sacrifices his life by putting a basil leaf goes to heaven.

Kush’s seat

Kush grass is very sacred. It is a symbol of purity and stability. The deeds done while sitting on the seat of Kush are very fruitful. It is believed that if a person who is near death is made to sleep on the seat of Kush, then the dying person goes to Vaikuntha Dham.

Ganga water

In Hindu religion, Ganga water is considered equal to nectar. Ganga water must be poured into the mouth of the dying person during his last moments. According to Garuda Purana, the soul gets purified by Ganga water.

In the last moments, sesame seeds should be donated from the hand of the dying person. Sesame seeds should be kept near it. This lightens the burden of the soul. One gets freedom from sins. This makes the journey of the soul calm and simple.
