Korba. A case has come to light from Korba district of Chhattisgarh, which has shaken the entire state. In their desire to become millionaires, three people got trapped in a black magic ritual which became a death trap for them. The alleged Tantrik, who claimed to convert Rs 5 lakh into Rs 2.5 crore through black magic, played such a game that all three died under mysterious circumstances. Police are investigating this case amid suspicion of fraud, witchcraft and murder. This whole matter not only raises questions on superstition, but also shows that even today many people risk their lives in the name of miracles.
Death in Black Magic Ritual: What happened that night?
The matter is of Barabaspur area of Urga police station area of Korba. Scrap businessman Mohammed Ashraf Memon, Suresh Sahu of Tulsi Nagar and Durg resident Nitish Kumar – these three persons had come to participate in the “wealth enhancing ritual” of alleged Tantrik Rajendra Kumar. The Tantrik had claimed that he could convert Rs 5 lakh into Rs 2.5 crore through Tantra-Mantra. The black magic ritual started at around 11 pm on Wednesday night in Ashraf’s farmhouse.
How did the dangerous ritual happen? One by one they were sent inside and then… death
The ritual started at Ashraf Memon’s farmhouse at around 11 pm. The things that came to light during the police investigation are extremely scary:
- The Tantrik sent all three to a separate room one by one.
- Every person was given a lemon.
- A circle was made on the ground with a rope.
- The door of the room was closed.
People present outside were asked to open the doors after 30 to 60 minutes. According to the family members, when the room was opened, all three people were lying on the ground, completely unconscious, without any movement. When taken to the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Pooja items, lemon and cash found in the room
Lemon, rope, puja thali and some cash have been recovered from the spot. This shows that some secret ritual was going on there. According to the police, the family members saw scratches and injury marks on the dead bodies, after which the suspicion of murder by strangulation was strengthened. Korba SP Siddharth Tiwari says that the family has seen marks on the neck which means there is a high possibility of strangulation. However, Korba CSP Bhushan Ekka said that the initial symptoms also point towards poison. Now the police is investigating whether the death occurred due to poison, suffocation or some other means. The reason will become clear only after the postmortem report comes.
Tantrik and his associates in police custody
The police have detained alleged Tantrik Rajendra Kumar and four-five of his associates in this case. His interrogation is ongoing. Police claim that the investigation is being done from multiple angles.
Increasing cases of black magic and superstition in Chhattisgarh
Despite the existence of Witchcraft Prevention Act in Chhattisgarh, such crimes are continuously coming to the fore. Government data shows that:
- From January 2020 to June 2024, 54 people died in incidents related to superstition.
- More than 200 violent incidents are recorded every year.
- According to NCRB-2021, the highest number of witchcraft cases in India were registered in Chhattisgarh.
- About 1,350 cases were reported between 2005–2017.
This number clearly shows that people still risk their lives in the name of miracles and black magic.
Why do people get trapped in the greed of becoming millionaires?
Police officials say that many Tantrikas trap people by using glitter and miraculous claims. Especially those people who want to earn money quickly or are under financial stress easily fall into such trap. In this case too, the greed for 50 times return became the reason for the death of all three.
Investigation continues, postmortem report will reveal the secret
The room of the farmhouse has been sealed, strict interrogation of all the accused is going on. Police say that the real reason will be revealed only after the postmortem report comes – is this death an accident, murder or poison play. But this incident once again reminds us that black magic, tantra mantra and miraculous claims often trap people into deadly traps.
