He thanked India for naming a road in Hyderabad after Donald Trump. The Telangana government called it a move to attract investment, while the opposition criticized it.
Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has thanked for naming a main road in India’s big IT city Hyderabad after him. Trump said that he is the first American President to receive such an honour. He thanked India on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. At the same time, opposition parties including BJP have raised questions on this step of the Congress government of Telangana. BJP alleges that this is duplicity on the part of Congress, because earlier it had accused Trump of working against the interests of India. However, the ruling party has clarified that this step is part of efforts to attract international attention and investment.
Trump shared a photo of Telangana Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and US Ambassador Sergio Gore unveiling a plaque naming the road. Trump wrote, “The new Donald J. Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — the first US President in history to be so honored. Thank you!” Let us tell you that the name of this road near the American Consulate in Hyderabad has been changed as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. This road is near the offices of big American IT companies like Microsoft, Google and Amazon. The Telangana government says this has been done to show respect for the US and the importance of Hyderabad in India-US relations.
