When the police searched the call detail records (CDR) of both of them to go deeper into the matter, the data that came out shocked the investigation team. Since the month of January alone, there had been a total of 2,004 phone conversations between Siya Goyal and Chetan Choudhary. If this conversation time is added, the total comes to about 238 hours. These long calls, day and night, made it clear that there was no ordinary relationship between the two, rather they were in very serious and continuous contact.
Conspiracy to destroy digital evidence: ‘Recycle bins’ emptied
After this dreadful incident in Lohgarh, the accused were well aware that the police would definitely reach their mobile. This is why he cleverly tried to erase his digital traces. Police learned that WhatsApp chats, Instagram messages and other online activities were completely deleted from both their devices just before and after the incident. The accused didn’t just stop at deleting the messages, they also emptied the recycle bin of their phones so that there was no chance of recovery. At present, the forensic wing of the police is working day and night to recover data from these mobiles.
24 hours before the murder: That last meeting in that cafe in Pune!
The biggest suspense in this entire incident is that evening of 17th June, which was just a day before the death of Ketan Aggarwal. Police have found out through technical surveillance that on June 17, Sia and Chetan met in a cafe in Lulla Nagar, a posh area of Pune. He was present there from around 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, i.e. for a full hour. What khichdi did both of them cook for an hour amidst that closed room and slow music? Was the final blueprint of Ketan Aggarwal’s death prepared in this cafe? The police, under the leadership of Gajanan Tonpe, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lonavala Division, is now searching for the answer to this Yaksha question. Sia’s brother Sahil has been questioned, and soon many more close friends and relatives are going to come under the police radar.
