India’s BrahMos missile will now become even more lethal. Dr. Jaitirtha Raghavendra Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director of BrahMos Airspace, says that the company is preparing to make the new generation missiles of BrahMos. They are preparing its version for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). There is a plan to make BrahMos better than before so that it can be fired from submarines along with its hypersonic version.
With this statement, BrahMos has once again come into discussion. BrahMos is the world’s only liquid fuel supersonic cruise missile. India is also the first country to master this cruise missile technology. BrahMos is a long range supersonic cruise missile, which can be fired from land, sea and air. It has been prepared jointly by BrahMos Airspace, DRDO and Russia.
Where is BrahMos made?
BrahMos missile is also being manufactured in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. It is part of Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor. Its manufacturing and testing facility center is here. In May this year, BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility was inaugurated in Lucknow. Here BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles are assembled and tested.

The headquarters of BrahMos Aerospace is in New Delhi, but after Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pilani, Thiruvananthapuram, it is now being manufactured in Lucknow also. The Lucknow unit is playing an important role in the production of BrahMos NG (Next Generation) version. The NG version, weighing approximately 1,290 kg compared to 2,900 kg, will be deployed on multiple platforms. Fighter aircraft like Su-30MKI will now be able to carry three BrahMos NG missiles instead of one. It has been claimed that its firepower will increase and the cost will reduce.
BrahMos missile is already counted among the most deadly weapons of the country. It flies at a speed three times the speed of sound i.e. 3424 kilometers per hour. Its range is 450 kilometers, but there are preparations to take its new version to 800 kilometers.
It is being claimed that the new BrahMos supersonic cruise missile will be ready by 2027. One special thing about BrahMos is that it can be launched day or night, whatever the weather.
