2026 KTM RC450 Leaks Ahead Of Official Reveal With A Chinese 2-Cylinder Motor

KTM’s upcoming RC450 sportsbike has surfaced online through a complete leak, revealing key details ahead of its debut. The RC450 is set to be the Austrian brand’s first affordable twin-cylinder motorcycle, making it a standout addition to its lineup.

Interestingly, reports suggest the bike will be manufactured by CFMoto instead of Bajaj, raising speculation that this particular model may not be introduced in India, despite growing anticipation among enthusiasts for KTM’s latest offering.

According to Australian Motorcycle News, the upcoming KTM RC450 will stand out with its brand-new 451cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, a first for KTM’s affordable sportsbike range. Expected to deliver between 45-55 bhp, the motor is designed to emphasize high-rev supersport traits, appealing to riders seeking performance and excitement. In terms of capability, the RC450 is anticipated to rival established machines like the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Yamaha R7, positioning it as a competitive option in the mid-segment sportsbike category.

According to reports, the KTM RC450 uses the same 449cc parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank that first appeared on the CFMoto 450SR. It also borrows the trellis-style frame from the 450SR, while the single-sided swingarm is sourced from the higher-spec SR-S. Approval documents reveal the KTM is slightly lighter at 168kg compared to the SR-S’s 171kg.

With the KTM RC450’s engine set to be manufactured by its Chinese partner, questions arise about Bajaj’s role in the project. If CFMoto remains KTM’s sourcing partner, the RC450 may not reach Indian shores. Given India’s highly price-sensitive market, importing a Chinese-built motorcycle would make costs prohibitively high, ultimately rendering the model an impractical option for local buyers despite its global appeal.

While enthusiasts may have to wait for the KTM RC450, several twin-cylinder motorcycles can serve as strong alternatives. Today, most premium bikes feature parallel twin-cylinder engines, with options such as the Aprilia RS457, Kawasaki Ninja 500, Royal Enfield Classic 650, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and the soon-to-be-launched BMW F450 GS among the notable choices. Together, they highlight how the segment is rapidly expanding with diverse and exciting offerings.
