Coal-wood banned for tandoor in hotels, strict orders to stop terrible pollution. Delhi Bans Coal And Firewood In Hotel Tandoors To Combat Pollution

Due to increasing air pollution in Delhi, DPCC has banned coal and wood tandoor in hotels and restaurants. Now establishments have been instructed to use only clean fuel like electric or gas.

New Delhi: In view of the increasing levels of air pollution in Delhi, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued an important order. This ban has been imposed on tandoors used for grilling etc. in all the hotels, restaurants and open eateries of the city. This ban has been imposed because coal and wood are used in these. This order has been issued under Section 31(A) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. According to this, all commercial establishments have been instructed to use only electric, gas or other clean fuels. This is because coal and wood worsen the Air Quality Index (AQI) on a large scale.

Last month, the students’ protest against air pollution in Delhi was much talked about. In this case the students were arrested and expelled. At the same time, the arrested students alleged that the police sexually assaulted the protesters. The arrested students said that criminals are roaming freely, while 20 year old children are being branded as terrorists and beaten in custody. Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality once again turned very poor after restrictions were eased.
