India will become AI superpower! Big companies of the world announced investment as soon as they met PM Modi

Intel Corporation CEO Lip-Boo Tan and PM Modi

Tuesday proved to be a milestone for India’s tech future. CEOs of the world’s leading tech companies met Prime Minister Narendra Modi one after the other. This was not just a courtesy call, but a huge leap towards making India a global leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and semiconductors. The heads of Microsoft, Intel and Cognizant, in separate meetings with PM Modi, have outlined billions of dollars of investment and new partnerships to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure.

Microsoft opened the treasury

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that his company is going to invest 17.5 billion US dollars in India. Nadella has described it as the company’s ‘biggest investment’ in Asia so far. Actually, this money will be used in building India’s ‘AI first future’. This simply means that in the coming times, AI infrastructure will be strengthened in India, new skilling opportunities will be created for the youth and the country will be able to develop its sovereign capabilities.

World-class chips will be made in India

Not only software, big news has come on the hardware front as well. Intel Corporation CEO Lip-Boo Tan praised India’s semiconductor mission after meeting with PM Modi. Praising the policies of PM Modi, he said that Intel is fully committed to deepening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Apart from this, Intel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Group. Under this partnership, Intel-designed products will be manufactured and packaged in upcoming Tata Electronics facilities. Meaning, now important chips and parts for computers and gadgets will be made in India only. This step will go a long way in making India a global semiconductor hub and will realize PM Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India for the World’.

Cognizant’s big plan

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar and CMD S Rajesh Verrier met PM Modi and talked about education and skill development. The company made it clear that they will expand in the emerging cities of India (Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities). Its direct benefit will be to those youth who live in small towns, because now they will not have to run to big cities for jobs and training. Cognizant aims to foster equitable development and enhance AI capabilities.
