While the purpose of the cameras was security and surveillance of passengers, it is alleged that the same cameras were used to blackmail people and make their private moments viral. This incident is not only shocking, but also challenges the confidence in the operating system of the expressway.
Toll plaza manager accused of blackmailing passengers
The shameful act of Ashutosh Biswas, manager of Anti Traffic Management System posted at the toll plaza of Purvanchal Expressway in Haliyapur police station area of Sultanpur, has come to light. It is alleged that the manager used to record the private moments of the passengers by extracting footage from the CCTV cameras of the toll plaza. After this he used to extort huge amount of money by threatening to make these videos viral.
The victim couple told that Ashutosh Vishwas extorted Rs 32 thousand from them. Along with this allegation, his complaint letter and personal video have gone viral on social media, after which the matter has become more serious.

Women and local girls were also targeted
According to the complainants, the accused used to prey not only on passengers but also on women and girls from nearby villages. It is alleged that he used to secretly shoot footage of girls and women going to defecate and threaten them. Apart from this, he also used to extort money from couples by making videos of them spending private time on the expressway. The victims said that even after recovery, Ashutosh used to make those videos viral on social media, due to which the privacy of many families has been affected.
Complaint submitted to Chief Minister with evidence
After the incident came to light, the victims sent a written complaint to the Chief Minister on December 2. Details of the allegations and several evidences have also been attached to the complaint letter. This letter has gone viral on social media, due to which the matter has gained further momentum.
According to the complaint, the confidentiality of the Anti Traffic Management System has been seriously breached. By misusing the system whose purpose was security, the manager mentally tortured many innocent people.
The victims have demanded strict action against the accused and appealed to the government to review the security arrangements so that such incidents can be prevented in future.
