One Big Tata Sierra EV Detail Revealed Before June 30 Launch

Within a few days, the much-awaited Tata Sierra EV will go on sale in India. While the official powertrain specifications and features will be revealed at its launch on June 30, one crucial detail about the electric SUV has emerged on the web. According to a fresh media report, the entry-level Pure variant of the Sierra EV will feature a 65kWh battery pack borrowed from the Harrier EV.

The Tata Harrier EV comes with 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options, along with RWD and AWD drivetrain configurations. The 65kWh battery pack is pared with a rear-wheel drive electric motor, pushing out a maximum power of 238bhp and 315Nm of torque. It delivers a claimed MIDC-certified range of 538km on a single charge.

The report further states that the Tata Sierra EV will be slightly smaller and lighter than the Harrier EV. As a result, the electric Sierra is expected to offer a marginally higher driving range with the same battery pack.

Official teasers have already confirmed that the electric SUV will be available with QWD or AWD drivetrain option. However, it could be reserved for the higher trims. The higher variants of the Tata Sierra EV are expected to come with the larger 75kWh battery pack paired with a dual motor configuration. This setup produces a maximum power of 313bhp and 540Nm of torque in the Harrier EV. It promises an MISC range of up to 622km.

Design & Features

The overall design and styling of the Sierra EV are largely similar to the ICE counterpart. However, it gets a closed-off body-coloured grille, revised front bumper with a gloss finish, a faux silver skid plate and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Most of the features will be shared with the ICE counterpart including a triple screen setup, ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a HUD (head-up display), a premium audio system, drive modes, multiple airbags, Level 2 ADAS and more.
