Delhi High Court has directed the National Pension System Trust (NPS Trust) to present in the court all the original documents related to Grade-A (Assistant Manager) and Grade-B (Manager) recruitment in the year 2025. This matter has come to light after the petition of those candidates who are from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC). These candidates allege that the selection rules were changed during the recruitment process. Due to which the process was not fair and transparent.
According to the information, NPS Trust had issued recruitment notification in January 2025 and released the result in June 2025, but after the result was declared, many candidates approached the Delhi High Court raising questions on the selection process. The petitioners say that initially as per the recruitment rules, 50-50 percent weightage was to be given to the written examination and interview. Later it was changed to 85 percent written examination and 15 percent interview. The candidates allege that this change affected the entire selection process.
What is the whole matter?
The petition also said that the qualifying cutoff marks were fixed after the interview was over, due to which many candidates whose total marks were more than other candidates were left out of the selection. He says that the method of determining the cutoff was not transparent. During the hearing of this case, Delhi High Court had earlier directed the NPS Trust to make public the marks of Phase-II examination and interview of the selected candidates. The court had also made it clear that if appointments are made, they will be subject to the final decision of the case.
These documents will have to be submitted by the trust
In the hearing held on May 29, 2026, Justice Sanjay Narula said that all the records sought earlier have not yet been presented in the court. After this, the court ordered the NPS Trust to file all the original records and an affidavit related to the recruitment process. The documents specifically asked by the court to be produced include the minutes of the selection committee meeting, instructions sent to the interview panel and the marks obtained by all the candidates in the Phase-II examination and interview. The court also said that all these documents should be submitted at least two weeks before the next hearing.
