China on Monday responded well to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India and said that India, China and Russia are an important part of the developing countries of the world. China said that the strong relations between the three countries are good for peace and stability in the region and the world as well as for the own benefit of the three countries.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said in a press briefing that China, Russia and India are emerging economies and major members of the developing countries of the world. He reacted for the first time to Putin’s important visit to New Delhi and his talks with Prime Minister Modi. Guo said that good relations between the three countries are not only for their own benefit, but are also necessary for the peace, security and progress of the entire region and the world. Given Beijing’s close relations with Russia, China was keeping a close eye on Putin’s visit.
Ready for tripartite relationship
In response to a question on Putin’s comments on India and China before his visit, Guo said that China is ready to work with Russia and India to enhance mutual relations. Before his visit, Putin had said in an interview that India and China are our closest friends. We give great importance to these relationships. On India-China relations, Guo said that China wants to build strong and continuously better relations with India with a long-term perspective. He said that China wants the two countries to move forward their relations with a big and far-sighted vision, so that both countries and their people can benefit, and can make a good contribution to peace and progress in Asia and the world.

Apart from calling India and China close friends of Russia, Putin in an interview to an Indian news channel expressed confidence that the governments of India and China are committed to resolving their issues, and Russia has no right to interfere in their mutual affairs. Chinese government media prominently featured Putin’s remarks on India-China relations. Government agency Xinhua published Putin’s comments while responding to America’s allegations on India buying Russian oil. China is still the largest buyer of oil and gas from Russia and has refused to accept US sanctions imposed on Russia due to the Ukraine war.
