If you take pension from Punjab National Bank (PNB) and your age is 80 years or more, then there is good news for you. The bank has said that from October 1, 2025, such super senior citizen pensioners can submit their annual life certificate.
This facility has been started in advance so that elderly pensioners can be saved from the crowd and long lines in November.
What did the government say?
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has directed all banks to provide facility and full support to pensioners aged 80 years and above in submitting Digital Life Certificate (DLC). With this, senior citizens will be able to get pension on time and they will not have to visit the bank.
face authentication
Digital Life Certificate can be created on mobile itself through Jeevan Pramaan App. There is no need for any device or going to the bank branch. Only smartphone, camera access and Aadhaar-linked mobile number is required.
Verification through fingerprint
Pensioners can verify their identity through biometrics by visiting the nearest PNB branch or Common Service Center (CSC). The bank staff or CSC operator will generate the digital certificate on the spot. Apart from this, pensioners who cannot go to the bank can submit the certificate at home through PNB Doorstep Banking Service. For this, booking will have to be done on the bank’s app or customer care. After this the bank representative will come home and do biometric verification.
offline deposit certificate
If any pensioner wishes, he can go to any PNB branch and submit the Physical Life Certificate. For this, you will have to carry valid ID proof and pension related documents. The bank officer will give a receipt for deposit.
What is Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)?
Life Certificate is an Aadhaar-based digital certificate, which confirms that the pensioner is alive. This certificate is generated from biometric data (fingerprint or face authentication) and is valid under the IT Act. Pensioners submit this certificate to their pension disbursing authority (bank or department) to prove that they are alive, so that their pension can continue.
