New Delhi: MG Motor India has dropped the first teaser for the updated Hector, confirming that the SUV is coming back with a major refresh. The teaser carries the line, “It’s been a while. Get ready to be surprised,” suggesting that MG is trying to restart interest in the Hector with a cleaner design and better features. This will also be the first big update since the company’s partnership with JSW, and early hints show that MG wants to push Hector towards a more premium, tech-focused direction.
Hector’s sales have dropped sharply over the past year. falling from 21,474 units to 8,414 units, with October 2025 recording just 225 units. This facelift could help MG bounce back, especially with tough rivals like the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 / XUV7XO getting stronger. However, MG hasn’t confirmed the launch date yet, but the teaser suggests the reveal is close.
It started with a hello and turned into a bond.
The icon that stole your heart is back to surprise you all over again.

Biggest Change: New and Faster Infotainment System
The 2026 Hector facelift is expected to introduce a stronger and much faster infotainment setup. Reports say MG will offer a new system with up to 10GB RAM, quicker touch response and smoother operation. There may also be new multi-touch gestures for things like fan control and audio settings. If true, this could make the Hector the most powerful infotainment package in the mid-size SUV space, matching MG’s focus on smart cabins and connected features. However, MG is unlikely to change its engine line-up; it may continue with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre diesel options.
Exterior Changes
Recent spy shots from Rush Lane show that MG is not changing the Hector’s shape or main body panels. Instead, the facelift will likely get new front and rear bumpers, a redesigned grille and new alloy wheels, possibly 19-inch. The LED DRLs and headlamp setup appear unchanged, and the overall silhouette stays the same. The teaser outline also hints at a cleaner and more refined design without altering the SUV’s main structure.
Interior Updates
Inside, MG is expected to introduce more than just a new display. The Hector facelift may get ventilated seats, maybe even for both front and rear, along with an upgraded user interface, better connected features and improvements to its ADAS package. The current 14-inch vertical touchscreen is already one of the biggest in its segment, and the facelift aims to make the cabin feel even more tech-loaded and premium.
