England’s Test captain Ben Stokes always remains in the headlines. Sometimes with his strange statements, sometimes with his controversies and often with his performance. All three of his styles were seen during the England-New Zealand Test series. Ben Stokes, who returned in the third Test after being out of the second Test due to the nightclub controversy, not only made his team comeback but also achieved a special achievement. On the second day of the Nottingham Test match, Stokes completed his 250 wickets in Test cricket and became the second player to be included in a special list.
Stokes took 4 wickets, completed 250 victims
The first day of the third and last match of the Test series started from June 25 at Trent Bridge Stadium. New Zealand Had troubled host England a lot. The opening pair of captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway had made a partnership of more than 300 runs and scored centuries. But on the second day of the match, the Kiwi innings ended at 438 runs and the reason for this was England captain Stokes, who bowled the best in this innings and took maximum 4 wickets.
After breaking the 317-run partnership between Latham and Conway on the first day of the match, Stokes took 3 wickets for New Zealand in the first session of the second day. During this period, the English captain also completed his 250 wickets in Test cricket. He became the 9th England bowler to reach this milestone. But with his 250th wicket, he achieved a feat which has happened for the first time in English cricket and only for the second time in the history of Test cricket.
Only the second cricketer to do so
In fact, Ben Stokes has more than 7000 runs along with 250 wickets in Tests and he has become only the second player to do so. Apart from him, the only other name in this list is South African legend Jacques Kallis, who is counted among the greatest all-rounders. Kallis was the first to do this feat. He has 13289 runs and 292 wickets in his name in Tests. At the same time, 7228 runs have been recorded in Stokes’ account along with 250 wickets (before the Nottingham Test). Apart from these two, currently no all-rounder seems close to reaching this list.
