‘Supermodel’ of technology will come on the streets of UP! Yogi government’s best road safety plan

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken major steps to modernize road safety and transportation infrastructure. Road safety will be strengthened by the purchase of new CCTVs in Lucknow-Moradabad, electronic devices in high-risk districts, interceptor vehicles and technical equipment.

In the cold morning of Lucknow, when the city was gaining momentum, at the same time, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a big announcement was made to give a completely new direction to the road transport system of the state. The Uttar Pradesh government is now moving rapidly towards making transport and traffic management not only better but also technologically advanced. The objective is clean, less accidents, safe roads and modern traffic system.

Roadmap for modern transportation ready, green signal given to many schemes

Many important schemes of UP Transport Department and Traffic Directorate have been approved in the meeting of the Chief Secretary. These range from state-of-the-art electronic enforcement devices to interceptor vehicles, which will take the state’s road safety system to a whole new level in the coming years.

Hi-tech CCTV will be installed at the intersections of Lucknow and Moradabad

The state government has approved the installation of advanced CCTV cameras in many cities including the capital Lucknow and Moradabad to increase road safety.

  • Approval of Rs 4.96 crore for CCTV installation at major intersections of Lucknow.
  • Rs 3.10 crore approved for integrated CCTV network in Moradabad and Ballia

Along with this, Rs 1.28 crore will also be spent on truck simulators and technical equipment for BTTE units.

Electronic enforcement devices will be installed in 25 high-risk districts of the state

To reduce road accidents, the Yogi government is paying special focus on high-risk districts.

  • Rs 25 crore for installing electronic devices in 25 districts
  • Approval of additional Rs 25 crore from Rs 50 lakh per district for other districts

70 interceptor vehicles have been purchased from the Rs 19.95 crore sanctioned last year. Whereas, approval of Rs 14.05 crore has already been given for 18 K-in-motion sensors.

Technology based security, roads will become safer

To make traffic smooth and safe across the state, the government is rapidly deploying hi-tech equipment, which includes-

  • speed laser gun
  • breathalyzer
  • interceptor vehicle
  • Iron and Folding Barrier
  • fluorescent jacket
  • Expansion of e-challan and signage board system

Overall, revenue schemes worth Rs 2.10 crore have also been given the green signal.

Traffic awareness will be further promoted

Awareness campaigns will be run on a large scale to ensure compliance with traffic rules. The government is preparing to further expand its scope by linking road safety with public participation.
