What is PMKSY?
Millions of farmers in India still do farming depending on rain or traditional methods. In such a situation, there is a fear of crop failure due to lack of water. PMKSY has been created to get the farmers out of this problem. Under this scheme, micro-irrigation techniques like drip and sprinkler are installed in the fields, which makes more irrigation possible with less water. Besides, the government also provides financial assistance for creating small water sources, saving water and supplying it to the fields. This scheme makes farming self-reliant in terms of water.
