Team India defeated South Africa in the ODI series. In the last match of the series played in Visakhapatnam, Team India defeated South Africa by 9 wickets in a completely one-sided manner. With this, under the captaincy of KL Rahul, Team India defeated South Africa 2-1 in the series for the second consecutive time. In this series, the Indian team won the toss for the first time and then bowling first restricted South Africa to just 270 runs. Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna played a big role in this by taking 4 wickets each. After this, Yashasvi Jaiswal (116 not out) scored his first century in ODI cricket and led the team to victory.
The last match of the ODI series was played on Saturday 6 December in Visakhapatnam. Even before this, the series was tied at 1-1 and a 39-year-old threat was looming over Team India. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Ryan Rickleton in the first over itself but after this Quinton de Kock attacked and scored his 23rd century. However, Prasidh Krishna, who was beaten in the beginning, made a comeback by taking 2 wickets in the 29th over and then dismissed De Kock (106) in the 33rd over. From here the wicket started falling and Kuldeep Yadav also played a big role in it. Kuldeep took 2 wickets in the 39th over and even after this he took 2 more wickets and restricted South Africa to 270 runs.
Jaiswal’s century, Rohit-Kohli also rained
After this, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made an excellent partnership for Team India. Both of them had a very slow start but gradually they increased the pace and by making a big partnership of 155 runs in 25.5 overs, the outcome of the match was almost decided. Although Rohit (75 runs, 73 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes) could not convert his strong innings into a century, Jaiswal left behind the failure of the first two matches and scored his first century in ODI cricket.
Whereas Virat Kohli, who came to the crease after Rohit’s dismissal, continued his excellent form and scored a quick half-century and along with Jaiswal made a partnership of 116 runs, helping the team win the match and the series in just 39.5 overs. Kohli scored unbeaten 65 runs (6 fours, 3 sixes) in 45 balls and Jaiswal scored unbeaten 116 runs (121 balls, 12 fours, 2 sixes).
