UP Home Guard Foundation Day: CM Yogi praised the soldiers, assured increase in allowances and health scheme.

On the 63rd foundation day of Home Guards, CM Yogi took the salute of the parade and praised the service, discipline and sacrifice of the soldiers. Announced increase in allowances, cashless health scheme, new buildings and stepping up of recruitment process. Many officers were honoured.

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took the salute in a grand military parade on Saturday in the 63rd Foundation Day celebrations of Uttar Pradesh Home Guards. Praising the loyalty, sacrifice and dutifulness of the soldiers, he said that service, discipline and national interest are the identity of Home Guards. CM also honored medal winning officers and employees of Home Guards.

He announced that now a room will be reserved for Home Guard jawans in every police station, where they can keep their uniforms and important documents safely. He also told the department to send a proposal to provide cashless health facilities to the soldiers on the lines of Ayushman Bharat, the government will take it forward.

Home Guard Foundation Day – Symbol of discipline and service spirit

CM Yogi said that Foundation Day is not just an event but a symbol of the dedication and discipline of the Home Guards. He said that the soldiers presented a parade of a very high standard, which reflects the discipline, capability and hard work of the department. The Chief Minister especially praised the uniforms of the soldiers, decoration of the premises and greenery, saying that it is inspirational for any organization.

Indianness is our identity – CM Yogi

On the occasion of Foundation Day, CM Yogi said that this day also gives inspiration as Mahaparinirvan Day of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He said that Baba Saheb’s message is clear – our identity should not be caste, region or language, but only Indianness from birth till the last journey. CM Yogi said that Prime Minister Modi has also talked about developing a sense of respect for those wearing uniform in every citizen.

Home Guard organization is the strength of Uttar Pradesh Police

The Chief Minister said that since December 6, 1963, the Home Guard organization has been a strong support of the UP Police like a security shield. In the year 2024, 3 soldiers have received President’s Medal for distinguished service, 11 for meritorious service and in 2025, 3 soldiers have received President’s Medal for meritorious service. The Government of India also gave 38 commendation discs to the soldiers of UP. He said that earlier Home Guards were neglected, but now the government is giving top priority to their honour.

Wide role from law and order to disaster management

CM said that Home Guard is no longer limited to just assisting the police. Its responsibilities have expanded to many areas –

  • Law and order and traffic control
  • dial 112
  • Election deployment in the state and other states
  • prison security
  • Contribution in big events like Mahakumbh
  • Disaster control and security of public places

He said that the department in collaboration with the Disaster Management Department has given Aapda Mitra training to more than 4,000 youth.

Home Guard Mitra App- Digital and transparent system

The Chief Minister said that the department is implementing digital and transparent system through its website and Home Guard Mitra App. With this, information about attendance, duty allowance, uniform allowance and payment is easily available.

Social contribution of Home Guards and role of Covid period

CM Yogi said that Home Guards have played an important role in campaigns like festivals, Yoga Day, Amrit Mahotsav, Tricolor March, environment and water conservation. Referring to the Covid period, he said that when it was a challenge to bring back the workers stranded in other states, Home Guard personnel were deployed in every bus. He transported lakhs of people safely to their homes without caring for their lives.

The government had announced that the family of the soldier will get an assistance of Rs 5 lakh in case of sacrifice. Till now, an amount of more than Rs 143 crore has been given to the families of 2871 deceased soldiers.

Increase in allowances and construction of new buildings

CM Yogi told-

  • Daily and training allowances have been increased.
  • Inter-district allowance has been quadrupled.
  • 44 offices operate in its buildings.
  • 9 new office buildings and high-rise residences at the headquarters are under construction.
  • Insurance assistance up to Rs 35-40 lakh is being provided to the families of the soldiers who died in the accident.

The recruitment process of new soldiers is progressing rapidly.

The government is committed to the welfare of the soldiers.

  • More than 2.19 lakh recruitments completed in police force
  • Recruitment process of 45 thousand home guards in progress
  • Efforts are being made to ensure that most of the soldiers get appointed in their own district.

The Chief Minister said that the Police Recruitment and Promotion Board is working rapidly to ensure that the soldiers can become first responders in disaster relief by taking training.
