children playing
At present the level of pollution has increased in many areas of the country. Because of this people are facing a lot of trouble. Doctors are advising to avoid morning walks and exercising outside. They are refusing even to go out without any reason. Pollution affects the elderly, youth, women as well as children. Many children also go out for sports, so should they go out in such a polluted environment? Let us know about this from the doctor.
Dr. Himanshu Bhadani of the Pediatric Department of AIIMS Delhi says that in areas where AQI is above 200, children should be protected from outdoor activities for a long time. Small particles present in pollution enter the lungs of children through breath. Due to this, they may have problems like cough, shortness of breath etc. The risk increases further for children who already have diseases like asthma, COPD and bronchitis. In such a situation, it is important to be careful.
When can we be allowed to play outside? What is the right time?
Dr. Himanshu tells that do not send children out in the morning. Also see what is the AQI of your area. If AQI is less than 150 then children can be allowed to play outside for short periods of time. However, still avoid sending in the morning and evening. Children can be sent between 11 am to 4 pm during the day. However, if children are in school during this time, then on holidays you can take them out at this time. If this is not possible then do indoor games, yoga and breathing exercises at home.
Parents must keep these things in mind
Always keep an inhaler nearby for children with asthma or allergies
Even if the child is going out, wear an N95 mask
If the child is having breathing problems, consult a doctor
Do not give any kind of medicine yourself
Do not send children with respiratory problems outside at all.
