DGCA rules are very clear that if the airline cancels the flight due to its own fault or is unable to operate it on time, then the passenger should get 100% refund. Even if the ticket is non-refundable, taxes and airport charges are refundable. Also, if the passenger wishes, he can also rebook on the next available flight without any extra charges.

How to get refund – step-by-step guide

  1. First check flight status: Open the Manage Booking section on the IndiGo website or app. Now enter your PNR and last name to see if the flight is actually shown as cancelled.
  2. Decide whether you want a refund or rebooking: You have two options: full refund and free rebooking on the next available flight. If your travel is not essential, it would be better to opt for a refund.
  3. Submit online refund request: Submit the request by entering PNR and passenger information in the Refund for Canceled Flight option. If you had made online payment, the refund comes to the same card/UPI/wallet within 57 days. If you had made cash payment, then go to the same airport counter and claim it with your identity card. In case of agent or third-party booking, refunds will be processed the same.

What arrangements has Indigo made for the stranded passengers?

Amidst the growing resentment, Indigo has issued a public apology and has also implemented some relief measures. They have waived the entire fee on cancellation or reschedule. Through automatic refund, the money will be returned directly in the same payment mode. Thousands of hotel rooms, transport and food arrangements have been made for the stranded passengers. Additional support staff have been deployed at the airport.
