New Delhi: A big Delhi screening of Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar, turned into a shocker for the media. Just before the espionage thriller’s special press show was to begin, the makers had to cancel it at the last minute.
Critics and journalists, who were already seated and ready to watch the much-hyped film, were left waiting as a sudden technical issue stalled the plans. The incident has sparked chatter online, even as the film opens in cinemas across India today.
Dhurandhar press show cancelled
The excitement surrounding Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar has been immense, thanks to its star-studded cast and intense subject matter, which is based on Indian intelligence operations. A special press screening was organised in Delhi, where media and critics had gathered to catch the film before its public release. However, the show was abruptly cancelled, leaving many surprised and disappointed.
Trade analyst Joginder Tuteja shared a verified update that everything was ready at the venue when a sudden technical glitch stopped the screening from starting. The situation became tougher because Dhurandhar has a runtime of around 3 hours and 34 minutes, which meant the team did not have enough time to fix the issue and begin the show again. He pointed out that “there was a limit to the time when the show could have begun,” so the makers had no option but to call it off.
The cancellation is a setback for director Aditya Dhar and producers Jio Studios, who were keen to get early reactions to what is being called their biggest project yet. Tuteja reportedly described the episode as “unfortunate” and “disheartening” and requested people to show empathy towards the team instead of trolling them online. He stressed that technical problems can happen with any film and should not be turned into a reason for negativity.
Despite this hiccup, buzz for Dhurandhar remains strong as it releases in theatres today, December 5, 2025. The film features Ranveer Singh as an intense undercover agent, along with Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in key roles. Directed by Uri: The Surgical Strike filmmaker Aditya Dhar, the movie is pitched as a high-octane spy thriller inspired by covert Indian intelligence missions, with an ‘A’ certificate and a runtime of over 3.5 hours, promising a gritty, large-scale cinematic ride.
