A sensational case of dowry harassment has come to light in Jalaun. The husband made an obscene video of his wife and made it viral on social media. The victim complained to the Women’s Commission. The Commission has directed the police to take strict action and provide immediate protection to the victim.
Jalaun. Greed for dowry has once again put relationships to shame. In Jalaun, a husband crossed all limits of cruelty by making an obscene video of his own wife and making it viral on social media. When the victim complained to Babita Singh Chauhan, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, she started crying bitterly. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Commission has instructed the police to take immediate and strict action.
Dowry orgy started after marriage
The victim, resident of Gohan police station area, was married to Raja Bhaiya, resident of Month town of Jhansi district, on 25 February 2024. The victim alleges that within a few days of the marriage, the in-laws started demanding more dowry, including a gold chain. Even on the wedding day, gold ornaments were demanded for the sister-in-law’s husband and relatives, but if it was not fulfilled, the resentment turned into torture.

Brutally beaten twice, saved life by locking myself in room
The victim told that she was brutally beaten on 6 April and 30 May 2024. When the situation went out of control, she was forced to lock herself in her room. It is alleged that the husband and his family tried to enter inside by cutting the mesh of the room. The victim sent the video of this incident to the police, after which the police took her safely to the police station. When no agreement was reached, she returned to her parents’ home.
Fake case registered under political pressure
The victim alleges that her in-laws, taking the help of politics, filed a false robbery case against her father and relatives at the Month police station, due to which she and her family suffered mental torture.
Obscene video made on video call and made viral
On August 18, 2025, the situation reached its worst level when husband Raja Bhaiya recorded his wife’s obscene MMS on video call and made it viral with a fake Facebook ID. The victim immediately lodged a cyber complaint, after which the ID was blocked.
Torture by stopping food and drink, Women Commission is strict
The victim told that she was deprived of even food and drink. She approached the commission after her mental condition deteriorated. Hearing her plight, the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission instructed the police officers to:
- The fake cases filed against the victim should be reviewed
- Strict action should be taken against the culprits
- The victim should be provided immediate protection and legal aid.
This incident of Jalaun once again raises big questions on dowry system and domestic violence.
