Passengers faced a lot of trouble as more than 500 Indigo flights were canceled or delayed. Many passengers stranded at airports. After DGCA review, IndiGo has assured to normalize operations by 10 February 2026.
Ahmedabad: More than 500 IndiGo flights have been delayed or canceled amid ongoing disruptions in the airline’s operations across the country. Due to this, passengers are facing a lot of trouble. Travelers at several airports expressed anger over the massive disruption, which left many stranded without clear information or other travel options. Passengers said that due to these problems due to shortage of staff and new rules for crew members, passengers have been stranded at airports for hours without any proper information, food or water. Speaking to ANI, a passenger said that they have not received any information from the airline and that fares on other airlines have doubled.
He told, “I had an IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad to Varanasi yesterday… After several delays, we canceled our flight, but we did not get our luggage back on time. We are stuck here for about 10-12 hours, and we have neither got water nor food. There is a lot of chaos here. It is not possible to take another flight, other airlines have increased their fares… Airline fares have doubled, which has further increased the problem.”
Passengers have reported paying significantly higher fares for other travel arrangements. Tarang Rathod, whose flight to Delhi was cancelled, said, “We reached the airport at 7:30 for the 9:45 am flight, but there was no advance notice of the cancellation. Now our rescheduled flight is a one-stop journey, causing a delay of about 12 hours. The cost per adult for other flights is three times higher than normal, almost Rs. ₹24,000-30,000.”
Another passenger, Hemant Bhatt, expressed his displeasure over repeated schedule changes and lack of help. “Our flights were changed several times, and we did not get proper care. The elderly and children are suffering, and the management is unresponsive. I am facing a loss of over ₹1 lakh due to canceled bookings and travel plans,” he said.
Following a detailed review meeting chaired by the DGCA with IndiGo’s senior leadership on Thursday, the regulator said, “In order to minimize passenger inconvenience and maintain safety margins, IndiGo has requested operational exemption from specific FDTL provisions for A320 operations till February 10, 2026. IndiGo has assured the DGCA that corrective action is underway and normal and normal operations will be restored by February 10, 2026.” “Stable operations will be fully restored.” IndiGo is seeing a sharp increase in cancellations, reaching around 170-200 flights every day, which is much higher than normal.
