New Delhi: Tata Motors makes a comeback in the South African car market after a pause of six years. They are going to introduce their cars in the South African region on 19 August.
The company has partnered with Motus Holdings Ltd as its exclusive distributor, which is expected to introduce most of Tata Motors’ product portfolio. The teaser highlights models such as the Punch, Harrier, Curvv, and Tiago.
Tata Motors’ first car in South Africa
Tata Motors is not new in the market of South African motors; they first showed up in 2004 with their Indigo and Indica. Later, they also came up with their other models like Vista, Safari and Aria. As South Africa is not the only International market for Tata, they also have active businesses in other regions like Spain and Italy. Although their products struggled to continue business, and operations in these markets gradually wound down, with South Africa shutting down in 2019.
Tata EVs Export
With its new models performing better than the older ones and a growing range of electric vehicles, Tata Motors’ return shows its fresh push towards global markets. At present, the company exports only to a few nearby countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Mauritius. Tata Motors is now in a stronger position to expand exports. This could boost its sales numbers, but the company will also need to stay focused on the Indian market, where rivals are quickly catching up.
