Director Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that work on the script of ‘Munna Bhai 3’ is going on. At the same time, he also revealed the secret as to why ‘Munna Bhai Chale America’ was closed even though there was a huge craze among the fans after watching its teaser.
Munna Bhai 3 release update: Director Rajkumar Hirani has given a big update to the fans of ‘Munna Bhai’ franchise. He has confirmed that the team is actively working on the script of the third film. However, he did not give any information about the film’s title, cast, release date or shooting schedule. During the promotion of his upcoming OTT series ‘Pritam Pedro’, Hirani also talked about the years-old mystery related to ‘Munna Bhai Chale America’, the teaser of which was released but the film was never made.
Why couldn’t ‘Munna Bhai Chale America’ be made?
In an interview given to NDTV, Hirani told that the teaser of ‘Munna Bhai Chale America’ was made when the work on the script was still going on. Its concept was quite fun, in which Munna and Circuit prepare to go to America and learn English in a very funny way. The teaser had created tremendous excitement among the fans, but the story never reached a level that would have satisfied the makers.
Recalling that project, Hirani said that producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to announce the next film, so the trailer was made quickly. Despite several attempts, the team could not complete the script. He also added that they are still working on different story ideas for the franchise, indicating that the old American concept is unlikely to work anymore.
A legacy worth waiting for
The first two ‘Munna Bhai’ films became iconic for conveying deep social messages along with comedy. ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ taught people the lessons of love and compassion, while ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ popularized ‘Gandhigiri’.
