Shahdol: When his girlfriend refused to marry him, a 19 year old boy climbed a 33 KV electricity tower. This shocking incident took place in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. This boy named Santosh Saket climbed up to the third level of the electricity tower in Devoland area and started shouting the name of his girlfriend. Standing on the tower, he threatened that if his marriage was not arranged, he would commit suicide. The local people immediately informed the police and tried to convince the boy. But, her high-voltage drama continued for about three hours.
According to Santosh Saket, his girlfriend’s family was refusing to marry their daughter to him. Feeling sad about this, Santosh did this drama to attract people’s attention. For about 3 hours, he kept standing on the tower like Veeru from the movie ‘Sholay’ and creating ruckus. Climbing the 33 KV tower, Santosh was shouting that his girlfriend had stopped talking to him. After this, the local people and the Devoland police tried hard to convince him to get down, but he did not agree. Then the police made him talk to a female constable on the phone.
The police, showing great understanding, asked a lady constable to talk to Santosh on phone. The female constable posed as his girlfriend and convinced him that she was ready to marry him. Only after hearing this, Santosh agreed to come down safely. After three hours of effort, the police successfully rescued him. The boy’s life was saved due to the timely and thoughtful action of the Devoland police. This incident happened in Nimhiha village of Devoland police station area.
