Greater Ghaziabad Project: The UP government is going to settle a new smart city in Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad. Greater Ghaziabad will be the new center of modern infrastructure, employment and well -organized administration to be built on the lines of Greater Noida.
Greater ghaziabad: The identity of Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi will no longer be limited to just one industrial and residential city. In view of the increasing population and weakening infrastructure, the UP government has started preparing to settle ‘Greater Ghaziabad’ here. This new city will not only be equipped with modern facilities, but will also become a new center for employment and investment.
Ghaziabad is an important part of Delhi-NCR, but in the last few years the population has increased rapidly. As a result, roads, water, electricity and administrative services started falling less than the needs of the people. Experts believe that in view of this pressure, the government has decided to settle the Greater Ghaziabad on the lines of Greater Noida.
Where and how many areas will the new city be ‘Greater Ghaziabad’?
The new city will be settled in Muradnagar area. Initially it was proposed to include only 13 villages, but after the recent survey, it has now been increased to about 20 villages. Apart from Muradnagar, areas like Khoda, Loni and Dasna Nagar Panchayat will also be included. 175 wards will be built under the scheme and the entire city will be developed in a phased manner.

What will be the administrative structure?
Greater Ghaziabad will be run under the Commissionerate System. It will be headed by secretary level officers and the city will be divided into three zones. Each zone will be operated by an IAS officer. The government claims that this will make the administration more transparent and effective.
This project has been included in the 2031 master plan of Ghaziabad, Loni, Muradnagar and Modinagar. It will get priority to residential, industrial and commercial areas. According to the scheme, better road network, underpass, public transport, rail stops, smart power -water system and state -of -the -art urban structure will be developed.

Officials believe that not only NCR but a role model for the whole of North India can become a smart city in the coming time. Various departments have almost completed their survey work. Determination and report is in the final stages. After this, the foundation for the development of Greater Ghaziabad will be laid as soon as the formal approval is received. If the plan is applicable on time, then the picture of Ghaziabad can change completely in the coming few years.
