New Zealand: After successfully investigating the theft of an expensive gold pendant, New Zealand police are now waiting for the thief to go to the restroom. After solving the case of theft of a gold pendant worth about Rs 17 lakh, the police came to know that the thief had swallowed the pendant. As soon as the police realized that she had swallowed the expensive pendant, they started waiting outside her bathroom.

On November 28, a 32-year-old man swallowed a decorative Fabergé octopus pendant at Partridge Jewelers in Auckland, the New York Post reports. The price of this limited edition pendant is 33,000 New Zealand dollars (about Rs 17 lakh) and it is inspired by the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy.

A few minutes after the theft, the police arrested the man inside the shop. He appeared in the Auckland District Court on 29 November, but entered no plea to the theft charge. An officer has been deployed to monitor the man until the pendant is recovered.

“At the time of his arrest, he was medically assessed, and an officer has been deployed to continue to monitor the man,” Inspector Gray Anderson said in a statement. “At this stage, the pendant has not been recovered yet,” he said.

Gold pendant with 183 diamonds

According to the jeweler’s website, only 50 such pendants exist in the world. Made of gold and painted with green enamel, the piece is studded with 183 diamonds and two sapphires. This pendant, 8.4 cm high, is an octopus in 18-karat yellow gold, decorated with white diamond suckers and black diamond eyes. It is named in honor of the villain from the James Bond film Octopussy. Now the curiosity remains as to when the Fabergé Octopus will be seen for the second time, depending on the time and the digestive system of the thief.
