Everyone is eagerly waiting for the auction to be held for IPL 2026 between the India-South Africa series. The auction for the next season of IPL will be organized at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on 16th December. Like every year, this time too hundreds of players have registered themselves, out of which only a few will reach the auction table. Among them, there is one player who has set his price the highest but he will be able to play only 4 matches. The player who did this is Australia’s wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis.
To be held on 16th December IPL auction Recently the registration window for this auction was closed and during this time a total of 1355 players got their names registered for this auction. Under the rules of IPL, every player, along with registration, also informed his base price, the price at which bidding will start on him during the auction. For the last several years, the highest base price in IPL has been Rs 2 crore and this time also more than 40 players have fixed their base price at Rs 2 crore.
Josh English will come for only 4 matches
Explosive Australian keeper-batsman Josh Inglis, who was released by Punjab Kings before the auction, has also registered for this auction and has kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. But now a big revelation has come about him. Cricbuzz report states that Inglis has informed BCCI about his availability for the IPL season. Inglis has told the Indian Board that he will be available only for 4 matches. This means Josh Inglis will not be available even for half of the 14 matches in the league stage. However, despite this he has kept his base price at Rs 2 crore.
Will not play entire IPL because of this
Inglis was a part of Punjab Kings last season and played a big role in taking the team to the finals. But despite this, Punjab released him on 15th November, the day of retention, which surprised everyone. However, later the reason for this was revealed that English is going to get married during the IPL season next year and in such a situation he will not be available for the entire season. In such a situation, it seems very unlikely that any franchise will spend Rs 2 crore for a player who will play only 4 matches.
