Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to reach Delhi in the coming days. This is his big official visit to India and along with it a large Russian delegation will also come to the capital. This high-profile visit of Putin has suddenly increased the demand for five-star hotels in Delhi. The result is that this week most of the luxury hotels are completely full and room rates have reached record levels.

Events, hotels full in Delhi

Tourist season starts in North India from November and the number of travelers coming from abroad also increases. Many big events are also taking place in the capital this week. Taxation meet at Bharat Mandapam, Paper Expo at Yasobhoomi and an important meeting of UNESCO. Besides, the wedding season is also in full swing. Due to all these reasons, the rent of normal rooms in five-star hotels has increased from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.30 lakh this weekend.

Putin will stay in the Grand Presidential Suite of ITC Maurya

Putin will stay in the luxurious Grand Presidential Suite of ITC Maurya, which is approximately 4,700 square feet in size. It includes facilities like two bedrooms, reception area, living space, study room, 12-seater dining room, mini-spa and private gym. This suite has been the choice of many global leaders in the past as well. American Presidents like Donald Trump, Joe Biden and Bill Clinton have stayed here. The hotel’s famous restaurants, such as Bukhara and Dum-Pukht, are ready to welcome the Russian President and his entourage.

Security arrangements have been tightened at the hotel and both Indian and Russian security agencies are deployed. In view of Delhi’s poor air quality, foreign teams have also examined the air-purification systems and locations of hotels. However, ITC Maurya management has refused to make any official comment regarding Putin’s stay.

Hotel rent ranges from 85 thousand to 1.3 lakh

The Russian delegation has also booked several rooms in the Taj Palace. Delhi’s major five-star hotels Taj Palace, Taj Man Singh, Oberoi, Leela and ITC Maurya are almost full for this entire weekend. While till Wednesday the room rent in these hotels was between Rs 50,000,000, from Thursday it has increased to Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.30 lakh.
