New Delhi: Tijani Reijnders enjoyed an impressive Premier League debut as Manchester City cruised to a clinical 4-0 victory against Wolves in their opening fixture of the 2025-26 season. Dutch midfielder Reijnders, who joined City from AC Milan earlier this summer, scored one and produced an assist to help City get off to a perfect start in the new season.
Striker Erling Haaland also enjoyed a great start to his campaign as he bagged a brace against Wolves to play his part in City’s dominant victory at the Molineux. There were question marks about how City might start the season after enduring a dismal campaign last season, but Pep Guardiola’s men buried any doubts with a comfortable victory.
City found it difficult to make inroads early in the game against a solid Wolves defence, but Reijnders did well to help them break the deadlock. The Dutch midfielder dribbled past the Wolves’ defence and lofted the ball to Rico Lewis on the right side. Haaland got on the end of a low cross from Lewis and put it into the back of the net to give City the lead.
Reijnders doubled City’s lead just four minutes later with a brilliant finish to score his first goal for the club on his debut in the Premier League. The game was all but over when the Dutch midfielder set up another goal for Haaland to complete his brace in the 61st minute. Haaland capitalised on a ball from Reijnders and produced an emphatic finish to help City extend their lead to 3-0.
