Champat Rai Ram Mandir Trust General Secretary Resignation: Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has resigned from his post amid investigation into alleged irregularities in the cash donations offered by devotees at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Along with him, Trust member Anil Mishra has also submitted his resignation. This development has come to light when an FIR has been registered against eight people associated with the counting and management of donations in the temple. Who is Champat Rai?
Champat Rai has been among the few people who held organizational responsibilities for a long time during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He was a senior official of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and was considered to have played an important role in the strategy, coordination and public relations of the Ram Mandir movement. This experience later brought him to become the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. When the Central Government formed the Trust for the construction of Ram Temple, Champat Rai was given the responsibility of General Secretary. He played an active role in administrative decisions related to the construction of the temple, operation of the trust and various arrangements.
What is the whole matter in Ram Temple donation theft case?
According to the FIR registered after the investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), eight people involved in the counting and management of cash withdrawn from the donation boxes of the temple have been accused of alleged manipulation in the offerings of devotees. The investigating agencies claim that CCTV footage and initial investigation revealed some suspicious activities, on the basis of which a case was registered. The FIR includes the names of eight accused including Ramashankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav. Tinnu Yadav is said to be a close aide and driver of Champat Rai. However, the investigating agencies have clarified that Champat Rai’s name is not in the FIR and at present sufficient criminal evidence has not been found against him. The investigation is still ongoing and further action will be decided based on the available evidence.
Political and administrative discussion increased after Champat Rai’s resignation
After the resignation of Champat Rai, this matter was not limited to the alleged donation theft, but a new debate has also started regarding the functioning and accountability of Ram Mandir Trust.
