New Delhi: Virat Kohli was in the thick of the action once again during the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur and this time it wasn’t just with the bat. After scoring a spectacular century earlier in the day the former India captain delivered a moment that sent the crowd roaring and the internet buzzing.
South Africa were chasing 359 when Quinton de Kock tried to break free against Arshdeep Singh. On 8 off 10 balls, he went for a big hit over mid-on but didn’t get the timing right. Washington Sundar, stationed near the boundary, judged the ball perfectly and completed a clean catch to end the opening stand of 26 runs.
As soon as the catch was taken, Kohli burst into an animated celebration that instantly went viral. The cameras panned straight to him and his expressive reaction summed up how crucial that wicket was. De Kock has hurt India many times in the past, especially in ODIs and his early dismissal felt like a big sigh of relief for the hosts.
