One of the biggest success stories in Marathi cinema, Raja Shivaji has made its OTT debut today. The historical epic is now streaming on Netflix in Marathi and Hindi.
Directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, the film is based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and chronicles his journey to establish Swarajya.
Released in theatres on May 1, 2026, Raja Shivaji rewrote the Marathi box office record books. It became the first Marathi film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark in India and emerged as the highest grossing Marathi film of all time. The historical drama also registered the biggest opening day, the biggest opening weekend, the highest single day collection, and the fastest run to both the Rs. 50 crore and Rs.100 crore milestones in Marathi cinema.
The film features Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Sachin Khedekar, Amole Gupte, Jitendra Joshi, and Boman Irani in key roles, while Salman Khan makes a special appearance. The film is produced by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company. Ajay Atul composed the music, Santosh Sivan handled the cinematography, and Urvashi Saxena took care of the editing.
