Shilpa Shinde Reflects on ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai’ Row Backlash, Labels Women Who Didn’t Support Her As ‘Nonsense’

Actor Shilpa Shinde has labelled the women who criticised her during her dispute with the makers of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! as “nonsense,” stating that they failed to offer support when she genuinely needed it. Her remarks come amid widespread backlash after she recently admitted that the sexual harassment allegations she previously made against producer Sanjay Kohli were false. Despite the intense public scrutiny, Shinde maintained that her actions at the time were a response to her self-respect being compromised .

Shilpa Shinde Slams Women Who Didn’t Support Her

In a recent interview with Zoom, Shinde expressed her frustration with fellow women in the industry who spoke out against her. She argued that her critics do not understand the complexities and difficult situations women face in the professional space.

“They are nonsense. Those women are nonsense,” Shinde said. “They don’t understand the kind of situations women face. They don’t assist those who are genuinely struggling. If they had offered help back then, I wouldn’t have found myself in this predicament.”

Shinde further stated that her critics focused entirely on blaming her rather than understanding her perspective. “They were just criticising me. They only accused me of leaving that show. I never compromise with my self-respect,” she added.

Defending her past actions, Shinde claimed she felt backed into a corner during her dispute with the show’s producers. “They don’t know anything about this. Why they were saying it? I don’t know. Discrediting him was my only option. I am not wrong. I am just guilty of being untruthful. It was a response because they had also discredited me,” she explained.

Shulpa Shinde’s Backlash Follows Admission on Podcast

The current controversy stems from Shinde’s appearance on a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa. During the episode, Shinde admitted she filed the sexual harassment complaint against Sanjay Kohli because she felt she had no other options available to her at the time. She noted that the matter was subsequently settled, and her pending financial dues were cleared.

Following her on-camera admission, a men’s rights organisation, the NCMIndia Council for Men’s Affairs, approached the Mumbai Police seeking legal action against the actress for filing a false complaint.

The admission also drew sharp criticism from several industry peers, most notably actress Hina Khan. Expressing her disbelief on social media, Khan condemned the act as a “crime” and questioned the potential real-world consequences a false accusation could have had on the accused individual’s family and mental health. Khan later posted a sarcastic message addressed to top government officials, suggesting that confessed criminals should simply be released if a lack of support is used as a justification.

Shipa Shindes Escalating Feud and Social Media Fallout

The disagreement quickly intensified into a personal feud. Shinde responded by posting a video on Instagram, which was widely interpreted as a veiled attack on Khan. Without directly naming her, Shinde referenced Khan’s ongoing breast cancer treatment and the past passing of her father, accusing peers of using her controversy for personal relevance.

“I do not know when people will stop gaining publicity in my name,” Shinde said in the video. “To gain publicity, you have your illnesses, you have deaths in your family, so why do you need Shilpa Shinde?”
