Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian navy’s operational preparedness will be witnessed by thousands the Shanghumugham beach on Wednesday evening. The capital city of Kerala will witness the precision, power and operational preparedness of the Indian Navy as it plays host to the operational demonstration being held as part of the Navy Day celebrations.
The Navy Day is being celebrated to commemorate the Navy’s successful attack on Karachi port in 1971 India-Pakistan war.
The event will be held at Shanghumugham beach in the evening. President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest. Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union and state ministers and senior bureaucrats will attend the function.
Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, said the demonstration will provide an opportunity for citizens to understand the Navy’s state-of-the-art platforms and multi-domain operations, reflecting its preparedness and the ability to deliver power and precision across the maritime spectrum.
As many as 19 war vessels, one submarine, four fast-interceptor craft and 32 naval aircraft, including fighters and helicopters, will take part in the demo, he added. The public will be allowed entry by 2.45pm. The President will arrive at the airport at 4.10pm. The demonstration will start after her arrival at the venue by 5.15pm. She will return to Delhi on Thursday.
It will bring alive the Navy’s formidable combat capabilities, technological excellence, and operational readiness, while reflecting the nation’s growing maritime strength and self-reliance, they added.
The operational demonstration will feature coordinated maneuvers by frontline platforms symbolizing the Navy’s ability to deliver power and precision across the maritime spectrum.” The event will highlight seamless coordination of surface, sub-surface and aerial assets, reflecting the Navy’s preparedness to secure India’s maritime frontiers, the officials said.
The operational demonstration will showcase Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art operational platforms and its resolve as the ‘preferred security partner’ in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) guided by the broader vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions, they said.
Reflecting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the demonstration will feature a range of indigenously built assets representing India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing, the defence ministry earlier said.
These platforms embody the Navy’s sustained efforts under the ‘Make in India’ vision to build a modern, technologically advanced, and future-ready maritime force.
“The celebration will also highlight the Navy’s state of preparedness and deterrent capability as displayed during Operation Sindoor, reaffirming its ability to strike with precision, speed, and dominance,” it has said.
