Lucknow. The countdown to the country’s biggest annual religious fair – Magh Mela, held every year in the month of Magh on the sacred banks of the triveni of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati in the Kumbh city Prayagraj, has started. The fair was started with Ganga puja on the banks of Sangam. More than 15 crore devotees are expected to come this year. This time the theme of the fair will be – accessible, safe, clean and accessible.
Preparations started with Ganga puja
The administration and the pilgrim priests performed the Aarti of Mother Ganga with the chanting of Veda mantras in the stream of Sangam and special prayers for the success of the fair. This Magh Mela is the first event after Mahakumbh 2025, so this time many new and innovative experiments are being done so that the devotees can get a better experience.
Government’s goal – clean, safe and grand fair
Divisional Commissioner Prayagraj Soumya Aggarwal said that as per the intention of the government, full preparations are being made to conduct the Magh Mela in a clean, smooth, accessible, safe and grand manner. About 800 hectares of land will be allotted in 7 sectors for the fair. Around 15 crore people are expected to come, hence the system is being further strengthened.
Special arrangements for the convenience of devotees
Learning from past experiences, several improvements have been made this time:
- Devotees have to at least walk on foot
- better parking system
- Advanced Crowd Management Strategy
- More effective operation of traffic system
- Strong networking and communication facility in the fair area
- Special attention to safety and hygiene
All departments are working in coordination so that the devotees do not face any kind of problem.
Ganga worship with good wishes for Magh Mela 2026
On Tuesday, Ganga puja was performed amidst Vedic chanting on the holy banks of Triveni Sangam. Officials and saints prayed to Mother Ganga that Magh Mela 2026 be completed safely and without any hindrance.
