Why is this door of Shri Ranganath Temple special?

The Ranganath temple of Vrindavan is open to devotees throughout the year, but one gate of this temple opens only once a year, on Vaikuntha Ekadashi. This door is called Vaikuntha Dwar. Before opening the Vaikuntha gate, a special festival is celebrated in the temple for 21 days. On the 11th day of the festival, the Vaikuntha gate is opened, to see which a crowd of devotees gather. It is believed that one who crosses this gate gets a place in Vaikuntha.

According to the temple tradition, on the day of Vaikuntha Ekadashi, the idols of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi are taken out from the Vaikuntha gate in a palanquin. The statue of Lord Vishnu is unique

The statue of Lord Vishnu installed in this temple is also very special. Lord Vishnu is seated on Sheshnag and Goddess Lakshmi is pressing his feet. It is said about the statue that King Ikshvaku, the ancestor of Lord Shri Ram, had asked for this statue from Brahmaji as a result of penance. When it was established in Ayodhya. Later Vibhishan demanded it from Shri Ram. While carrying the statue, Vibhishana kept it here for some time and it got established here. Since then it is being worshiped here. This temple was built by a Jain businessman in 1851.
