New Delhi: The first week of Exercise SURYAKIRAN–XIX in Pithoragarh concluded with high momentum as the Indian Army and Nepali Army conducted intensive Battalion-level combined training in counter-terrorism, jungle and mountain warfare.
Troops executed a wide range of tactical drills including Integrated Field Craft, ROP & Convoy Protection, Ambush & Counter-Ambush, MVCP, Bus Intervention, Cordon & Search, Room Intervention, Jungle Survival, Rock Craft, Jungle Firing and BOC runs, reflecting strong interoperability.
A major highlight was the integration of niche technologies such as ISR drones, unmanned logistic vehicles, surveillance sensors, and secure digital communications, enabling joint teams to refine TTPs for modern operations in dense jungles and high-altitude terrain.
The academic segment featured structured discussions on UN Chapter VII themes including Operation Khukri, Grey Zone Warfare and Multi-Domain Operations. Recreational activities such as PT, Yoga, volleyball and tug-of-war deepened camaraderie between the contingents.
The week underscored the shared resolve of both nations to build future-ready, interoperable forces capable of meeting evolving threats and contributing effectively to regional peace and UN peacekeeping mandates.
