Chaos in Parliament: Lok Sabha adjourned amid strong sloganeering from opposition over SIR

New Delhi: The Parliament’s winter session began with utter chaos as the Lok Sabha again adjourned till 2:00 pm IST amid strong sloganeering from the opposition over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls nationwide.

Members of the opposition demanded key issues to be addressed, like the SIR of electoral rolls, the pollution crisis in Delhi-NCR, and national security, but it led to heated exchanges inside the House.

The proceedings began at 11 am, but within just 20 minutes, Lok Sabha adjourned the proceedings until 12:00 pm. After resumption at 12:00 pm, the Lok Sabha again adjourned again till 2:00 pm.

The chaos began when opposition MPs protested against SIR. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju sharply berated the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge as Rijiju urged him to maintain respect for the chair and stated, “Don’t tarnish the dignity of the Chair.”

This is a developing story.
