Kohli completed his 52nd century in ODI cricket in 102 balls and with this he also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in one format. Sachin had scored the maximum number of 51 centuries in Test cricket but now Kohli has broken his record of 306 ODI matches and has himself become number-1. This is Kohli’s second century this year. Earlier, he had scored a century in the Champions Trophy against Pakistan in February.

Kohli had a chance to score a double century but some fatigue and back pain appeared to be affecting him and he was caught while trying to play a big shot in the 43rd over. Nevertheless, Kohli entertained the Ranchi crowd brilliantly and the fans present in the stadium also gave him full respect while returning to the pavilion. Kohli played an excellent inning of 135 runs in 120 balls, which included 11 fours and 7 sixes.
