Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan smashes 45-ball hundred against Tripura in SMAT 2025

New Delhi: Captain Ishan Kishan smashed a match-winning hundred to help Jharkhand chase a 183-run target in 17.3 overs against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT 2025) at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 30.

Kishan notched up a 45-ball century and remained unbeaten on 113 runs off 50 deliveries, smashing ten boundaries and eight maximums during his sensational innings. At one point, Jharkhand were reduced to 32/2 in 4.2 overs, but Kishan forged a massive 153-run partnership off 80 deliveries for the third wicket with Virat Singh, who also scored an unbeaten 53 runs off 40 balls.

Kishan did not have a good start to the tournament, scoring just 27 and 15 in Jharkhand’s first two games, but he made a good comeback with a commanding century. He remains out of favour with Team India, having last represented the country in a T20I match against Australia in November 2023.

Invited to bat first, Tripura scored 182 runs in 20 overs. Bikramkumar Das amassed 42 runs off 29 balls, and Vijay Shankar also smashed a fifty, while Murasingh also made a crucial contribution with the bat. Vikash Singh and Anukul Roy picked up two wickets each, while Saurabh Shekhar, Utkarsh Singh and Bal Krishna took one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Jharkhand got off to a poor start as Viki Saha removed Utkarsh Singh for five runs, and Saurabh Das dismissed Kumar Kushagra for six runs. After early setbacks, Ishan stitched a match-winning partnership of 153 runs with Virat Singh and took his team over the line.

Abhishek Sharma breaks T20 record

Team India opening batter Abhishek Sharma entered the record books with a 12-ball fifty for Punjab in the SMAT 2025 match against Bengal. With this milestone, he emulated his idol Yuvraj Singh, who also scored a 12-ball fifty against England during India’s victorious campaign in the T20 World Cup 2007.

Abhishek further broke records as he went on to score a sensational century off just 32 balls, smacking seven boundaries and 11 maximums in his innings. He registered the joint fourth-fastest century by an Indian in T20 cricket, helping Punjab to score 310/5 in 20 overs. They won the match against Bengal by 112 runs.
