Lucknow. Mission Shakti, an initiative of Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, is giving a new direction to the safety and respect of women. It is no longer just a government scheme but has become a symbol of women’s confidence and courage. Whereas earlier women felt unsafe leaving the house alone, today UP has created a new identity for women’s safety.
Initiative to make women self-reliant and capable of self-defense
The main objective of Mission Shakti is to make women self-reliant and capable of self-defense. So far, more than 5 lakh women have been given special self-defense training in the state, so that they can protect themselves in any difficult situation. First Responder Network and Mission Shakti Commando teams are deployed in every district, which take immediate action in case of emergency.

Pink Booths and Anti Romeo Squad have played a big role in ensuring the safety of women on the streets, markets and public places of the cities. There has been a 60 percent reduction in cases of molestation and harassment, which is a sign of positive change in the society. The environment for women has now become safer everywhere – home, workplace, school and public transport.

Under Mission Shakti, swift and strict action is being taken on cases like domestic violence and sexual crimes. The entire process from filing complaint to providing assistance to the victim has been made sensitive and transparent. This has increased the confidence among women that security is their right.
