Baadshah Producer Revealed Karisma Kapoor Was The First Choice For Shah Rukh Khan’s Movie

Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna starrer ‘Baadshah’ which released in 1999 is one of the most loved movies of both the actors and recently the film completed 25 yrs.

 

While the cast of ‘Baadshah’ looks perfect when we watch the movie but during an interview, producer Ratan Jain revealed that the original choice for the role of Seema which was played by Twinkle was Karisma Kapoor. Ratan Jain said that Karisma was almost finalized but she couldn’t work due to some reason and then they looked at other options and Twinkle was roped in.

However, the director duo Abbas-Mustan gave an interview in 2019 in which they stated that the reports as per which actresses – Shilpa Shetty, Karisma Kapoor, Anupama Verma and Manisha Koirala were considered for the role were false. They made it clear that Twinkle Khanna and Deepshikha were the only actresses who were approached for their respective roles. They also said that the other actors such as Amrish Puri, Rakhi Gulzar, Johny Lever, etc. were also the original choices.

Abbas-Mustan also clarified that Akshay Kumar was never approached for the lead role as Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice and he also gave many inputs for ‘Baadshah’. The director duo praised SRK as they said that he is a wonderful actor whether he does comedy or serious scenes and he also did many card tricks on his own after a magician taught him. Abbas-Mustan said that there were no VFX in those times and people still wonder as to how they did all those scenes in the movie.

Ratan Jain also added that the technology was not as good at that time as it is in present times but they did use some graphics. However, Ratan Jain added that they were not happy with the special effects and they had to compromise.

The songs of ‘Baadshah’ were also loved by fans and it won’t be wrong to say that they also played a big role in increasing the movie’s popularity.
